Geological Services Limited is
a Canadian based consulting company offering a broad range of geological
and project management services
to the natural resources sector. Our
registered professional geologists (P.Geo.) utilize a broad geological
background, strong field oriented services and specialized computer
applications to assist clients in the development of small and large
scale mining operations throughout North America.
Mercator has provided assessment, design and
program implementation services for exploration programs relating to
metallic minerals such as gold, nickel and base metals, as well as for
industrial commodities such as limestone, marble, aggregate, gypsum,
barite, salt and peat moss. Staff have individual experience in the
energy sector, primarily in the fields of open pit coal mining, coal bed methane
resources and onshore oil and gas . Our geologists have worked with clients in strict
confidence to develop exploration programs, detailed commodity or
project assessments, regulatory filing documents, sampling protocols
and chain of custody procedures. Basic services typically include
project management, provision of on-site professional and technical
staff, in addition to completion of data compilations/interpretations
and GIS-based mapping. We have also contributed to both exploration
and mine site environmental permitting and reclamation programs.
We utilize specialized computer applications and software assist clients with database design
and development, GIS (MapInfo) and CAD based
mapping, diamond drill hole (Discover, Surpac), data analysis and deposit evaluation
(Surpac), enhanced gridding and analysis of geological, geochemical and geophysical data
(Discover, Vertical Mapper, Interdex), and 3D modeling (Surpac,
Discover 3D) of geological and topographic data sets (XYZ, DEM, DRG).
As project managers we have dealt with government
regulatory agencies and local stakeholders regarding mineral
exploration licensing and environmental permitting issues as well as
mining lease and mining permit applications. Mercator assignments have
also included coordination of land acquisition negotiations for
project/mine development purposes and investigation of various
deep-water shipping parameters relating to Atlantic Canada.
